1 Habit That Could Save Your Job & Your Life

I am often asked: “Of all the habits you can develop in your career, what are the top ones for success?”

Focus is, without doubt, in the top 4.

In this high-pressured, rapidly changing world, many people think multitasking is the answer to increased productivity. However, what you may not know is that it can take up to 15 minutes to reorient yourself each time you switch gears and move from task to task.

Add this time up over one day, and you see how much time you are actually losing. Focus is critical to staying on task and high performance and productivity.

Concentration is also key when you are getting or carrying out instructions. Think about it: if you are not focused on what your boss is saying, you could be missing something important, and not complete a project properly. This may cost your team and your company precious time. It may also cost you your job.

And, finally– If you are one of the many people who are constantly distracted by your phone when driving or walking, and are not focused on the world around you, it could cost you your life.

So–please–stay focused. Keep your eye on the ball.
