DaVita's Nephrology Practice Solutions (NPS) is a wholly owned subsidiary that works with Nephrologists committed to providing outstanding clinical and integrated kidney care to their patients.

Our mission is to help Nephrologists transform the business and clinical Nephrology practices of the future Nephrology Practice Solutions (NPS) is a growing strategic business unit within DaVita that provides business solutions to physician practices, and leads the Village's physician employment and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) strategy. As NPS seeks to grow and become the leading national nephrology group in the country, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, operationally focused and results-driven (Senior) Director of Operations to join our team.

Highlights:

  • Opportunity for a Director or Senior Director candidate with proven experience to take on an active role in managing and expanding one of the largest nephrology practices in the country.
  • Based in Pittsburgh, PA covering the entire Pittsburgh market and responsible for the oversight of an established, multi-specialty physician group with 10+ clinic sites including 20 physicians (both endocrinology and nephrology), 12 Aps and 50 support teammates.
  • The role will drive all aspects of strategy, quality, operations, and financial performance.
  • This leadership position will be accountable for developing patient care teams (clinical and administrative) to ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations and a culture of service excellence.
  • Future value-based care programs and alternative payment models potential in the local market requiring close partnership with both local and national clinical leadership teams to develop, coordinate, implement business and clinical initiatives, and operational readiness."
  • Finally, this individual is responsible for driving growth including current and potential acquisitions in the market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and formulate operating plans for practice:

  • Accountability for establishing and executing on short and long term profitability and growth goals ($10M+ revenue practice)
  • Develops practice budget in partnership with Corporate Finance and manages revenue and expense variances to budget alongside the Practice's Clinical Leadership
  • Routinely monitor business and quality metrics related to practice performance and develop action plans for continuous improvement or issue resolution
  • Develops and executes business and clinical goals in partnership with physician leads and NPS leadership
  • Leads monthly practice strategy reviews with clear and concise communication

Business development and new program initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Business development team in discussions with target practices in the local market as needed
  • Establish processes to integrate new providers into the practice and provide assessment and input of new businesses
  • Establish practice readiness and "winning" strategy for new Kidney Care / Government Models (e.g., KCF/CKCC) in partnership with local physician leaders and national leadership team
  • Negotiates Medical Director Agreements, Real Estate, and other contracts as needed

High degree of independence and self-accountability and responsibility for business performance and clinical program development:

  • Regularly reviews, analyzes, and addresses gaps in provider schedules, service excellence, risk management, compliance, policies and/or procedures; identifies issues and implements solutions
  • Ensures NPS business and clinical programs and processes are consistent and are communicated accurately and effectively
  • Coordinates internal compliance review of services to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Ensures development, monitoring, review, and communication of quality and business improvement activities, metrics, and outcomes
  • Identifies opportunities for process efficiencies that will make a significant impact on the business bottom line

Relationship Management & Communication:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with dyad physician leaders and all practice physicians consistent with DaVita and NPS codes of conduct and compliance commandments;
  • Establish positive working relationships with all levels of management and external stakeholders
  • Drives for performance; communication and decision making style aligned across varying audiences
  • Demonstrates executive presence, relationships, and presentation style regularly among executive team

Provide leadership to direct reports:

  • Sets strategic direction and goals and develops managers to run daily operations
  • Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered during projects
  • Know, understand, implement, follow, and communicate to teammates all DaVita employment policies and procedures, awards, and other opportunities within company and foster a positive work environment
  • Connect local practice team with NPS and greater DaVita Village Mission & Values
  • Hire, develop and retain physicians and office teammates so they can excel in their assigned roles in a team environment
  • Facilitate teammate development (PDRs, coaching, mentoring, DaVita training, outside training); collaborate with direct reports to create professional development goals
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with dyad physician leaders and all practice physicians consistent with DaVita and NPS codes of conduct and compliance commandments; work collaboratively to attain goals
  • Conducts financial impact and analysis on new hires and business expansion
  • Special projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree is preferred
  • Travel up to 20% depending on business needs
  • 10 or more years of progressive management experience
  • Multi-site healthcare provider operating experience strongly preferred; dialysis or similar provider service experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and managing at strategic and operational levels required
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt based on changing priorities
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel required; intermediate skills and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and teammates to create a results-driven, team oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a strong member of a highly motivated and integrated management team
  • Demonstrated business acumen; able to assess financial implications of decisions and actions; able to understand how strategies and tactics work in physician practices and impact NPS
