Description

An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes for an Engineering CO-OP. This position will support the design team and engage in assigned engineering related projects. You will participate in hands on assembly of products, create new part numbers and Design Change Requests (DCR), work on assembly tools and fixtures to learn SolidWorks CAD system, create burn templates, support Help Desk with Technical support and assist with test reports, catalog updates with 3D models, and modify or create engineering drawings.

Core Responsibilities (Engineering Co-Op)

  • Assist design, project, and application engineers in the development of engineering projects.
  • Modify engineering drawings and coordinate engineering changes.
  • Assist with project planning and test planning.
  • Write test procedures and supervise the assembly and testing of prototypes.
  • Analyze test results from life cycle testing and write test reports.
  • Contact vendors regarding purchased items.
  • Perform hands on assembly and installation, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge and project management skills.
  • Able to conceptualize and evaluate new products.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with team members in person or virtually.
  • Willing and able to accept and apply feedback.
  • Strong computer skills: experience with Solidworks preferred.
  • Hands on experience with assembly of mechanical systems, preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or related degree program.
