Primary Responsibilities

As a Utility Management Services Project Manager, you will direct, develop, and market water distribution and wastewater conveyance studies, utility planning and design projects. You would have the opportunity to apply your expertise to these types of projects for federal, state and local municipalities. Project types will include: water resources planning, utility performance improvements, asset management and rehabilitation/ replacement planning, water/wastewater facility master planning and design, and biosolids management planning and design. Your day-to-day accomplishments would involve:

  • Conducting studies and evaluations on distribution and/or collection system.
  • Functioning as Project Manager, responsible for executing projects and managing and developing multi-discipline teams, utilizing HDR's business systems and project management tools.
  • Participating in leadership for technical functions and support the development of HDR services in water resources, utility planning, asset management, and water/wastewater facilities planning and design.
  • Preparing design reports to document the design process.
  • Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in civil, environmental or closely related engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer
  • Planning and design expertise related to water distribution and wastewater system hydraulics, lift stations and pump stations.
  • 7+ years of experience in the water/wastewater utility industry
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience thriving in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with assessing sewer pipeline conditions through used CCTV and field test data;
  • Using Civil3D or MicroStation for development of site grading, pipeline plans and profile drawings, and
  • ArcGIS software, including system mapping and basic data analysis.
  • Experience with trenchless technologies/installation and sewer/pipeline rehabilitation techniques.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
  • Business development experience.
