Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Environmental Services Team Leader serves as a part of the patient care and support teams. Primary responsibilities include assuring assigned area is maintained and daily workload is completed by coordinating, assisting with and monitoring the work of assigned staff; mentoring employees and overseeing quality assurance activities. Ensures work is completed in accordance with department and Medical Center policies, procedures and infection control guidelines.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. Delegates and directs workload/periodic assignments and monitors employee's progress to insure timely completion; ensures effective employee use of time and other resources.

3. Anticipates/recognizes problem solving opportunities and responds appropriately.

4. Encourages, redirects, corrects and documents employee performance as appropriate.

5. Interacts with each employee in assigned area on a regular basis.

6. Provides assistance to employees as appropriate to meet customer demands and appropriate timelines; accesses medication rooms without supervision to perform necessary cleaning.

7. Assesses employee competencies and level of performance; cross trains employees into specialized areas and periodic assignments and documents training.

8. Utilizes computer to complete required job training and personnel-related activities as needed.

9. Wears appropriate protective equipment for products and equipment being used and work assignments being completed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalency required. Minimum of one (1) year experience performing cleaning responsibilities in a hospital or medical environment required. Prior supervisory experience desired.
