The Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Summary/Primary Purpose: Plays a key role on the Divisional Communications Team, serving as videographer/MMJ and social media facilitator while also providing assistance with graphic design and website updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as The Salvation Army Western Division's videographer, recording/editing/producing a variety of video projects as directed by the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications; this may include "one-man-banding/MMJing" stories independently in the field.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications on news-gathering projects to generate stories about Salvation Army programs, services, staff, clients, awards, etc. This can include both videos and newspaper-type stories posted to Salvation Army websites.
  • Serve as the day-to-day social media facilitator across all four Western Division/Salvation Army of Omaha social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)-posting/scheduling content daily as directed by the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Plan out, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, social media posts for future weeks, months, etc.
  • Provide social media support and advice to Salvation Army Western Division corps (field units).
  • Assist with graphic design projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Post content to Salvation Army websites on an as-needed basis.
  • Serve as a photographer for local and regional Salvation Army events.
  • Participate in team development of fundraising, marketing, and public relations actions for future TSA events.
  • Support the Development Department by helping out at special events (such as the DJ's Hero Awards Luncheon); onsite presence at such events - and occasional after-hours work meetings - is required and may include some nights and weekends.
  • This position requires the discipline to be a self-starter, the initiative to manage/coordinate important projects, and the ability to maintain focus from beginning to end.
  • This position requires flexibility especially during the spring-summer extreme weather season-to rapidly deploy across Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota in case of a natural disaster such as a tornado or flood for the purposes of covering Salvation Army units' disaster-relief operations.
  • This role may also be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as directed.
  • Driving is an essential role of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
