Job Description

As Wheel and Brake Engineer, you will be working within a team that executes the development of new Braking Systems Division (BSD) wheel & brake equipment, ensuring that the design meets the requirements defined by the customer, government agencies and BSD internal standards. This encompasses adherence to performance, cost and schedule requirements. The role also includes support for internal customers to ensure the business delivers its commitments to its contractual customers and operators.

* Under the guidance of the Lead W&B Engineer support performance calculations and simulations to validate that the equipment will meet the required design requirements.
* When required, lead / be responsible for small sub-projects within the overall W&B project.
* Creation and review of technical requirement documents under the guidance of Lead W&B Engineer in accordance with government standards, company standards and customer requirements.
* When required, support the Lead W&B Engineer & Lead W&B Designer through all phases of equipment new product development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification / certification testing and initial entry into service.
* Under the guidance of the Lead W&B Engineer helps to ensure all program targets are satisfied; includes technical performance, non-recurring costs (NRC), recurring costs (RC) and project milestones (Schedule). This includes
coordination with other Engineering functions to support the equipment development.
* Responsible for assisting and tracking of key metrics through the development process including NRC, DTC, DMC, reliability, weight, etc. for their assigned equipment.
* Works with Lead W&B Engineer to coordinate with stress, thermal, vibration and reliability analysis engineers to ensure
adequate margins against design requirements are met.
* Works with the Lead W&B Engineer in close coordination with supply chain and/or operations to ensure designs for manufacture (DFM) while satisfying the Design to Cost (DTC) targets.
* Works closely with assigned Test Engineers and Lead Engineer to assist in the development of all qualification test documents and test set-up drawings. Supports Lead Engineer to ensure qualification test plans will verify requirements according to the agreed method of compliance.
* Assists in the maintenance of equipment parts lists and drawing reviews to ensure drawings are released on time and are in conformance with design and drafting standards.
* Participates in internal/external design reviews as required by the PLE/SME/Chief Engineer and customer.
* Supports Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) for qualification / design / manufacturing issues.
* Required to actively support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within the W&B Centre of Excellence.
* Consults with and seeks guidance from the Lead W&B Engineer, Product Line Expert (PLE), SME (Subject Matter Expert) and Chief Engineers as required

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering required

Experience: Entry-level role, 0-2 years experience

Skills:

* Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which
answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally. Learns to use professional concepts.
Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues. Typically requires no previous professional experience.
* Exposure to DFM, GD&T and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes
* Exposure to Project Management skills including cost / schedule tracking
* Demonstrated communication skills - able to make presentations to customers and lead daily discussions with group of
engineers/designers and technicians (as required)
* Systems knowledge/exposure/experience - preferred
* CI Training/Experience - preferred
* Available to travel internationally as required
