Job Description:

Location: Denver, CO

Compensation: Compensation for candidates based in Colorado is $66,000-$89,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus of up to 5% of base salary. Bonuses are not guaranteed and depend on the successful achievement of pre-determined company and individual performance goals.

As a leader in the Meow Wolf multiverse, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for the continuation of the Meow Wolf experience, transporting guests through a rotating menu of experiential food and drinks. The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for complete oversight of the daily operations of HELLODFOOD cafe and Sips (with a z) bar as well as the mobile bar program. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Food & Beverage Manager ensures the profitability of the above locations by effectively managing all business aspects such as: licensing, vendor relations, inventory, product selection and procurement, managing staffing, reconciling budgets, setting goals, and supporting special events.

How you will do it...

  • Manage labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set for site

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws

  • Determine product pricing and margins in alignment with budget or executing pricing strategy

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team that encourages elevated guest service with talent growth and development opportunities

  • Perform all job positions needed to operate a food and beverage location from bussing, serving, cash register, etc.

  • Ensure all licenses are current, including health, safety, and liquor

  • Initiate, encourage, and maintain internal and cross-departmental communication

  • Providing feedback and reviews for all food & beverage team; maintaining high-quality staff performance

  • Models and enforces proper cash management protocols by delivering POS training to staff and following company policies for cash handling and cash room compliance

  • Ensure staff complies with all food control and safety regulations

  • Directly support all site initiatives including, but not limited to, the role-playing element required of all staff members, when interacting with guests

  • Create initiatives that focus on the elements of our B Corp including recycling, composting, and community engagement

  • Plan and participate in promotional and special events as well as corporate events

  • Develop and maintain vendor and community relationships

  • Create, maintain, and communicate to all key parties the vendor supply calendar that aligns with the needs of the site for product inventory

  • Maintain inventory management records

  • Analyze sales trends and adjust product offerings accordingly

  • Analyze customer feedback and suggest ways to improve ratings specific to products

  • Actively listen to and resolve complaints

  • Work with the Scheduling Manager to ensure work centers are staffed efficiently and effectively

  • Set and maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness

  • Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately

  • Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment for guests

  • Perform all job positions needed to operate a bar from bussing, serving, cash register, etc.

To be successful in this role...

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Proven work experience as an F&B Manager, Bar Manager or similar role

  • Hands-on experience with point-of-sale systems

  • Proven experience developing, managing, and achieving budgets

  • Extensive knowledge of liquor, bartending, and service protocols

  • Strong service skills and a welcoming demeanor required

  • Proven experience managing, developing, and leading a team

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • Communicate well with others to exchange information

  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources

  • Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles

  • Develop, follow and enforce safety rules

  • Maintain composure in stressful situations

  • Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment

It would be nice to have...

  • Prior work experience in a retail, museum, theme park, recreation facility, or other public space

  • Adult + Child + Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification

  • TIPS Certification

  • ServSafe Certification

  • Food Handler Safety Training Card

  • Prior experience with visual merchandising

  • Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish

Work environment & physical demands...

This position works in indoor settings with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines, and small and/ or enclosed spaces. When working in outdoor settings, the position is exposed to weather conditions and varied temperatures.

Physical Demands:

  • Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight spaces.

  • Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods.

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Positioning or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
