Function:

Intern/Co-opJob Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will participate in real-world engineering projects, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and gain experience with plant equipment, maintenance, and inspection. You will learn how to use the Management of Change (MOC) process to implement tangible plant improvements, assist in the improvement of plant technical documentation, and gain exposure to the practical use of many types of engineering analysis. You will gain exposure to relevant codes and standards and learn how to ensure safety compliance in the performance of all your responsibilities. You will report to the Sr Reliability Engineer and work onsite. This is a safety sensitive position.

Job Description:

You Will:

  • Contribute to Project Execution:
    • Participate in projects at a level consistent with your aptitude and abilities.
    • Collaborate with other engineers and departments.
    • Gather process information.
    • Perform relevant engineering calculations and analysis.
    • Present project results and recommendations.

  • Learn about Multiple Aspects of Plant Engineering
    • Plant processes
    • Fired, Fixed, and Rotating Equipment
    • Metallurgy, Damage Mechanisms, and Inspection
    • Best practices associated with equipment maintenance and repair
    • Relevant codes and standards
    • How to read and interpret common plant documents

  • Assist Process and Reliability Engineers:
    • Support daily tasks, including troubleshooting, analysis of bad actors, and document management

  • Monitor Equipment Performance:
    • Gain exposure to equipment reliability monitoring and downtime analysis

  • Process Safety Management Coordination:
    • Analyze engineering proposals and write technical reviews to evaluate and plan the implementation of Management OF Change submittals
    • Organize Process Safety Information for technicians
    • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses
    • Develop and review Mechanical Integrity Procedures

You Have:

  • Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering Program
  • Can make verbal and written presentations to communicate ideas
