Job Description

Your Opportunity as the Technician-Coffee Research & Development

Location: Orrville, OH Corporate Offices

In this role you will:

  • Performing regular and preventative lab maintenance for multiple Coffee R&D labs:
    • Lab Grinders & Brewers PM
    • Lab Roasters PM; replace parts, calibrate, clean-out
    • General lab equipment as needed
  • Execute lab roasting requests from Product Development team (Pre-ships/Library Conditions)
  • Execute brewing and qualified cupper requests for Process technology projects and CQV tests
  • Brewing coffee samples and submitting for product analysis, stability studies and/or sensory studies
    • Collecting headspace analysis data as needed
    • Other data entry work and labeling requirements
  • Order and maintain inventory of general lab supplies and equipment for the team; manage POs as necessary
  • Process Research Lab canning support as needed for R&D test requests
  • Follow proper procedures for good laboratory practices (ensuring security, safety, GMP and quality)
  • Run benchtop lab runs and ensure proper testing methods are taking place in the lab and/or Process Research Lab (PRL)
  • Perform standard operating procedures and test methods relevant to the job
  • Be an area owner, HSE Key Element, or Quality representative

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with 5 years experience OR Associates of Arts with 4 years experience OR Associates of Science with 3 years experience
  • Task oriented, detailed, and organized
  • Good data keeping skills (data entry and reports)
  • Basic computer skills (the use of spreadsheets)
  • Able to work independently and on a team
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment and familiarity of GLP/GMP conditions
  • Work schedule will be Monday through Friday at 40 hours per week

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Possess a strong mechanical ability
