We're actively seeking a talented Sr Configuration Management Specialist to join our team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE. This fulltime role can be on-site, hybrid or fully remote for the right candidate (depending on location).

As a Sr Configuration Management Specialist, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success. The role is responsible for technical and process ownership of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and its relationship to other functions and departments, and performs the day-to-day delivery of Configuration Management services to the organization taking general direction from the Configuration Management Manager and specific direction from our Configuration Management Consultant to deliver work products that support ongoing configuration management operations.

How you will make an impact:

  • Experience with discovery and asset management tools, ServiceNow ITOM and ITSM modules, as well as knowledge of ServiceNow platform and infrastructure tools for end client infrastructure discovery.

  • Experience in maintaining a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and knowledge of UI scripting, UI action policy, business rules, normalization, workflow development, and user management activities.

  • Develop, configure and customize the platform to meet specific business needs, ensuring a seamless integration with existing processes.

  • Execute the Configuration Item (CI) discovery/population processes; ensure accurate mapping of CI relationships. Research and resolve any issues.

  • Perform operational activities as defined by Configuration Management policies and procedures.

  • Work to fulfill Configuration Management Service Requests as assigned.

  • Engage with strategic projects to ensure Configuration Management can deliver required functionality within project timeframes.

  • Identify and report non-compliance situations.

  • Perform Configuration Management audits as directed by Config Manager/Consultant.

  • Identify Service Improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor, maintain and contribute to the growth and maturity of the CMDB.

  • Partner with IT Asset Management team to identify and recommend both process and technology automation improvements to current state processes.

  • Confirm the assets under the control of the IT organization are identified, catalogued and tracked throughout their lifecycle.

  • Develop and communicate CMDB enterprise metrics.

The experience you will bring:

  • 5-7 years of broad IT Experience working within a large enterprise.

  • 5 years' experience working within an IT Configuration Management program and/or organization and at least 4 years of hands-on experience with Asset / CMDB tools.

  • Specific experience with ServiceNow &/or Flexera CMDB / Data Population processes.

  • Solid understanding of Configuration Management practices and principles.

  • Experience implementing and operating a CMDB in an environment with varied applications and database architectures.

  • Solid understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) and best practice frameworks.

  • Strong Analytical, documentation skills and ability to perform data analysis working across multiple applications and database systems.

  • The optimal candidate will have experience establishing an effective configuration life cycle. The desired candidate will be detail and task-oriented while at the same time capable of seeing the broader picture developing, and generating reports (and their review) to communicate and monitor compliance of processes and procedures as it pertains to the CMDB.

  • The following certifications are considered desirable, but not mandatory: ITIL, COBIT or IAITAM Certifications.

  • Computer Science degree or similar or postgraduate degree in IT, engineering, Cybersecurity, SecOps or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • A team player focused on a collaborative style.

  • Self-starter who requires minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a broad audience.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$108,000.00 - $132,000.00
