We're actively seeking a talented Head of Pension Risk Transfer and Defined Benefit to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions Group in Omaha, NE or Newport Beach, CA to work remotely or in the office.


As the Head of Pension Risk Transfer and Defined Benefit, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by leading the defined benefit business, developing the team, enabling a client-centric sales culture, and driving growth and innovation across the business, including pension risk transfer and solutions in the DB portfolio. This role will report directly to the Head of Institutional Retirement Solutions Group.


How you will make an impact:

  • Develop, articulate and execute the overall business strategy for the defined benefit business line to drive profitable growth
  • Lead the sales team to meet or exceed sales goals for the pension risk transfer, while identifying additional risk transfer opportunities to support institutional retirement outcomes
  • Build and lead a high performing team focused on creating and deepening relationships with clients, consultants, reinsurers, other insurers, and other potential traditional and non-traditional partners
  • Serve as thought leader in the institutional retirement market, with presence in key industry groups, while representing DB within the institutional division and Pacific Life
  • Oversee all business processes, ensuring adherence to guidelines, policies and regulatory requirements, and own the P&L for the DB business
  • Drive a client centric culture and behavior, within Pacific Life and externally
  • Identify opportunities and build the business case to expand Defined Benefit product suite
  • Lead new product development opportunities and oversee the execution and maintenance of the DB product roadmap
  • Broaden reach through additional partnerships to grow Pacific Life footprint and brand awareness in the market

The experience you will bring:

  • Actuarial experience -
    • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
    • Enrolled Actuary or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Actuarial Science, or a similar field
  • Demonstrated 15+ years of experience in the actuarial or Pension Risk Transfer space
  • Strong defined benefit knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of DB and PRT and prior experience in the financial services industry, from negotiation, contracting and delivery perspective
  • Bias towards collaboration and a demonstrated ability to think creatively
  • Exhibited diplomacy, persuasiveness, creativity, judgment and decisiveness
  • Superior problem solving and program management skills

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$235,350.00 - $287,650.00
