PRIME AE Group, Inc. (), a multi-faceted A&E firm with 20 offices in 10 States and over 475 employees throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Northeast, is seeking a Bridge Designer II to join our Transportation Business Group in the Baltimore, MD office.

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role will be to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques on projects that typically include bridge design (steel plate girder/rolled beam, prestressed concrete, and post-tensioned components) for highway and railway projects.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Perform design calculations, estimates, and specifications, develop plan and details/layouts using CAD, quantity take offs, and technical report writing.
  • Perform design and analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation design for transportation projects.
  • Participate in bridge condition inspections, inspections of other transportation related structures, and inspection report preparation.
  • Perform bridge load ratings.
  • Perform construction engineering demo/erections calculations, temporary shoring, and falsework.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Engineering Intern or Engineer-In-Training License.
  • Finite Element Methods (FEM) analysis experience is desired.
  • Ability to use MicroStation CAD.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
