Responsibilities

We are seeking a Civil/Transportation Engineer with 3-6 years of experience designing linear transportation or site projects. The position is ideally suited for a candidate with experience in civil design involving complete streets, multi-use trails, and other multi-modal facilities, but also with experience with roadway or highway design involving PennDOT and/or NJDOT.

The position will focus mainly on the design of multi-modal transportation projects, but the ideal candidate should also have an interest and willingness to assist our team on an as-needed basis with projects involving site design, green stormwater infrastructure, parks, and other community development improvements for various public and private clients in Philadelphia and the surrounding region. The candidate should also have experience in signing and pavement marking plans, erosion and sedimentation control, grading, and trafc control. The individual will also have an opportunity, if interested, in assisting with transportation planning, including active transportation plans, corridor master plans and trail routing and feasibility studies.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    Technical design duties including performing multi-modal design documents, calculations, report writing, specication development, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Development of horizontal and vertical corridor design (streets, trails, etc.), including centerline alignments, vertical profiles, cross sections, and site grading.
  • The position will require coordination with internal project team members across several NV5 ofces, including structural, geotechnical, traffic, and water resources engineers, as well as planners and landscape architects.
  • Coordination with subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting with community engagement efforts as needed.
  • Participation in professional societies like ASCE, WTS, and ITE will be encouraged.
Qualifications
  • EIT or PE License in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or New Jersey
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • At least 3-6 years of civil or transportation design experience
  • Procient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/lnRoads/Open Roads Software
  • Experienced with AASHTO and NACTO design standards
  • Strong interest in active transportation, complete streets, Vision Zero, and first/last mile solutions
  • Involvement in professional societies and networking
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for design and working within a team
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Passionate about alternative forms of transportation such as walking, cycling, and public transit
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once

This is a full-time position with commensurate salary and full benefits package. Our Philadelphia office operates on a four-day work week and has a flexible time off policy.
