Your Job

The Savannah River Mill is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Paper Machine department. The Manufacturing Engineer will providing technical expertise over a paper machine and optimizing production, costs, environmental, and safety results. This will include partnering closely with operators, maintenance & reliability, and vendors. The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Area Leader.

Located in southeast Georgia just north of Savannah, the Savannah River Mill serves as Effingham County's largest private employer. At the Savannah River Mill, you'll find five of the world's 12 largest tissue paper machines. The mill is located in a beautiful part of the country in Effingham county with some of the best school systems in the state. It is close to the coast and the great city of Savannah, GA. What You Will Do

  • Creating an environment where the team identifies and mitigates safety risks
  • Developing and executing reliability and asset strategies including time based, condition based, operating envelope, and spare parts for the paper department
  • Providing technical expertise and transferring knowledge to, Technicians, Team Coaches, Reliability Coaches, and others
  • Facilitating ownership-based work system strategies by building capability of technicians to operate, maintain and improve their assets
  • Providing strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of EHS, compliance, asset reliability, cost optimization, quality capability, productivity, waste, and strategic capital planning and execution
  • Leading the effort to identify, investigate, recommend, and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve yield, quality and/or reduce costs
  • Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers within and outside the paper department to optimize the process relative to throughput, quality and cost that provides the greatest value for the overall facility
  • Working with support personnel to resolve short term reliability issues while developing long-term reliability strategies
  • Understanding and communicating current capability and coordinating new opportunities with the Business, Operations, and Supply Chain


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Three (3) or more years of manufacturing experience

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working on paper machines
  • Equipment and/or manufacturing systems reliability experience
