Job Description
Location: WIS-PAK of NORFOLK Position: Machine Operator Reports To: Production Supervisor/Lead Person Date: 02/27/2024 JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Supervisor and Line Lead, The Machine Operator performs tasks in accordance with their Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Quality Standards, and the facility Food Safety Plan.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: The job functions relate to the job, site specific)

* Machine Operators must understand, follow all established safety, health, quality, Food Safety, GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.

* Know the purpose and follow proper operation of all safety switches, interlocks and safety devices.

* Must maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.

* Machine Operators are to check product and case codes frequently for accuracy and legibility and complete package changeovers accurately and timely.

* Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues with equipment.

* Follow escalation protocol in a timely manner when troubleshooting efforts fail.

* Work closely with maintenance when escalation to maintenance support is needed for a mechanical issue.

* Must complete and file all required quality and packaging documentation in an orderly and timely manner.

* Must notify lead and supervisor of any major problems or questions, including Quality or Food Safety concerns.

* Communicate processing information to designated personnel on incoming shift.

* Routinely communicate with up/down stream operators to maximize line performance and ensure product integrity.

JOB DUTIES/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (Not fundamental job duties)
  • Sweeping, mopping, and cleaning of filling equipment.
  • Light maintenance duties on related production equipment.
  • Any other duties assigned by your Supervisor or Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires basic math and writing skills.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
  • Must be able to follow direction.
  • Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team setting.
  • Must have basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to drive a forklift is helpful.
  • Ability to read and write basic English.
