Job Description

This is a triple posting with Job ID 51403 and 51405 - Health Physicist I / II / III. Only one vacancy will be filled.

The University of Missouri seeks a dynamic Health Physicist to support MURR's research and customer service initiatives. The successful candidate will take an innovative and proactive approach to safety and have a sharp attention to detail.

Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include

The Health Physics team reports directly to the manager of Health Physics and Safety. Candidates should be committed to excellence and believe in the University Mission of being a world-class research institution.

  • Radioactive Effluent Coordination and Support
  • Provide support to the Special Project Health Physicist
  • Write and review Health Physics Procedures
  • Provide Support to Health Physics Technicians
  • Understand, monitor, and support MURR facility requirements about the NRC license
  • Oversee facility radiation monitor support
  • Assist with the planning and implementing improvements to the oversight of facility projects and maintenance activities



In Addition, The Individual Will

  • Direct research, training, and monitoring programs to protect reactor or laboratory personnel from radiation hazards and to assure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations
  • Analyzes potential solutions using experience, judgements, and precedence, providing input and recommendations
  • Analyze and interprets data provided by research investigators
  • Impacts the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and compliance
  • Explains complex information to others, ensuring understanding
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00-5:00pm, some evening and weekend work

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Chemistry and or science related educational background
  • Nuclear and/or radiological facility experience
  • Experience working under regulation of the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission)
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year

Grade: GGS-010
