ESi is seeking a dynamic Senior Staff Consultant in Structural Engineering for our Omaha office, who thrives in a responsive, interdisciplinary team environment. This position involves investigations of hail, storm damage, and construction defects, as well as provides specialized consulting for heavy industrial and power generation projects. You will guide contractors on design issues in the field, particularly focusing on developing lift plans for heavy equipment and monitoring loads during construction activities.

This position is responsible for performing property loss investigations related to residential and commercial structures, providing consulting services, preparing technical reports for clients, marketing company and self to obtain and/or maintain client base and to build business. Plans, manages and coordinates activities for client projects to ensure that goals/objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or with the assistance of Staff Consultants or Staff Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs field inspections of industrial, residential, commercial, marine, and transportation structures, etc. to determine cause and origin of reported or suspected damages as well as condition assessments.

  • Assist contractors with designing, checking and/or developing lift plans for heavy equipment, checking loading during construction activities.

  • Prepares technical, project-related reports on a timely basis for clients as required.

  • For projects not involving property loss or damage, provide consulting services to clients on civil engineering design and construction topics within the consultant's area of expertise.

  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

  • Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations and technical conference presentations.

  • Perform marketing and business development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.

  • Mentors junior consultants in growth and development.

  • Testifies in court proceedings (depositions and/or trials) on behalf of clients, as required.

  • Prepares and reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.

  • Makes determination to accept or decline potential new projects based on all variables.

  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.

  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgets.

  • Verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools.

  • Classic structural analysis capabilities

  • Experience with structural engineering software

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • BS degree in Structural Engineering required, MS degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in structural engineering

  • Experience and familiarity in inspection and engineering of industrial facilities preferred

  • Residential and/or commercial construction experience and/or materials lab investigation experience a plus

  • Structural inspection and condition assessment experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • PE License required, SE license preferred

Computer Skills:

  • SAP2000, Risa3D, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
