Description

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manager, the Student Laboratory Helper provides technical support to members of the research team on several projects from the lab. Scientific job duties include maintaining various cell lines and human primary cells, DNA and RNA extractions, and molecular cloning for viral-vector generation for gene transfer experiments (transfection, vector purification, and titration). Prepare and maintain reagents to be used in experiments. Laboratory duties include maintaining research records and a laboratory notebook in enough detail that results can be reproduced. Maintain laboratory stocks by taking inventory and ordering supplies and consumables for research projects. Stock supplies in lab spaces. Oversee lab functions by maintaining optimal compressed gas levels. Perform equipment maintenance. Manage inventory of freezers and liquid nitrogen and maintain thorough records. Clean and autoclave tools. Manage and dispose of waste. Hourly Salary Range: $16.80 - $20.80
Qualifications

Required: * Basic Knowledge on Molecular Biology, Cancer Cell Biology, Immunology and Immunotherapy * Very well organized and highly dependable * Highly motivated to learn new skills and techniques. * Basic laboratory skills including organization, preparing common lab reagents, pipetting and working with human primary cells and cell lines. * Ability to lift/push/pull up to approximately 50 lbs. * Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campus departments and the public * Registered UCLA student
