The School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for an adjunct Instructor of Ethnomusicology position for the 2024-2025 school year.
We seek a colleague who can offer compelling courses of interest to undergraduate and graduate students in music as well as non-music majors from across campus. Generic area of research expertise is open, though successful candidate will be able to offer courses on ethnomusicological theory and method; courses on topics that include global popular music as well as local traditions.
The qualified candidate has developed innovative pedagogies that blend theory with practice and scholarship with creative work.
The teaching load is 1-course per semester.
The successful candidate will possess a PhD in ethnomusicology, although an ABD will be considered.
