Primary Responsibilities

This role will sit onsite in our Omaha, Nebraska office.

In the role of Data Engineer Lead, we'll count on you to:

  • Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Develop and maintain resilient and scalable data pipelines.
  • Integrate data quality and data privacy frameworks within data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and maintain data products and reusable data sets in data warehouses, lakes, and marts.
  • Adhere to software and data engineering development standards.
  • Perform data acquisition, integration, sourcing, and cleaning.
  • Transform raw data into business semantic data suitable for analytics and data engineering applications.
  • Manage the complete data engineering lifecycle including development, deployment, operations and maintenance.
  • Create automated data pipelines and data engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise on projects with cross functional teams.
  • Contribute thought leadership for the development and evolution of standards and patterns for enterprise data pipelines and data engineering solutions.
  • Mentor, train, and develop team members and data engineering practices in the organization.
  • Identify, organize, and develop long term plans for data engineering strategies.
  • Tune data systems and pipelines with comprehensive validation and testing processes.
  • A degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional, ability to multitask a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling frameworks such as Kimball star, Inmon, Data Vault
  • Familiar with data engineering practices such as DataOps, pipeline orchestration and automation.
  • Proficiency and a minimum 5 years of experience with database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL, and Snowflake
  • Proficiency and a minimum 5 years of experience with data engineering tools such as ODI, SSIS, ADF
  • Proficiency and a minimum 5 years of experience with data languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, DAX
  • Excellent writing and people skills.
  • Strong math and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and various managers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling, and telephone skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Experience leading multiple complex data engineering projects.
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior data engineers.
  • Experience setting the direction of data engineering practices.
  • Preference given to local candidates
