This position is hybrid - Tuesday - Thursday in the New York Office and Monday and Friday work from home.

Position Description

A unique opportunity exists for a self-motivated and driven communications professional to join New York Life at an exciting time for an industry leader. The key focus of the role will be to support the company's Enterprise External Communications efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executesintegrated communications strategiesin support of key storytelling efforts that advance the corporate reputation of New York Life. This includes supporting key enterprise themes including innovation, impact, and financial strength.
  • Supports media relations efforts by proactively targeting key reporters, coordinating effortswith PR agency partners, managing inbound media inquiries, surfacing new media contacts, conducting media outreach.
  • Drafts, proofreads, and edits press releases, presentations,thought leadershiparticles, internal memos, and Newsroom and social media posts created for communications purposes.
  • Contributes to annual financial reporting announcements.
  • Develops and maintains editorial calendars that correspond to business areas; proactively secures opportunities to contribute thought leadership articles or earned media related to these topics.
  • Provides support in defending the corporate reputation of New York Life in crisis and special situations by providing strategic counsel and tactical execution that influence favorable outcomes.
  • Liaises with internal partners including,Corporate Communications colleagues and members of the Legal, Government Affairs, Compliance, Marketing, and HR teams, as well as others.
  • Assists with ideation and content creation for our external channels including social media and the New York Life Newsroom, including organizing content ideas, and collaborating with research partners.
  • Organizes logistics around media interviews, announcements, and other events; develops media briefings and other related prep documentsfor business leadership.
  • Supports team organization through the tracking of workflow and deliverables and creates reports for senior management.
  • Supports the team in gathering and interpreting metrics related to reputation and media coverage.
  • Researches and recommends speaking engagements, award opportunities, conferences, and other opportunities to demonstratethe company's thought leaders, capabilities, and brand.
  • Monitors news and trends to identify and leverage emerging issues.

Skills & Experience

  • 5-7 years of communications experience ideally in the insurance/financial services industry or in a public relations agency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with various levels of staff including executive leadership.
  • A collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to be clear and concise.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exemplary attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate and thrive in a large, complex organization.
  • Flexibility to manage changing requirements and short timelines.
  • Commitment to develop business acumen alongside public relations skillset.
  • Proactive approach to identifying emerging opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Hybrid environment: Office Tuesday through Thursday, working from home Mondays and Fridays.

Salary range:$72,500-$107,500
