Production Process Technician/Trainer Trainee

Summary

The Production Process Technician/Trainer is responsible for the design, development, and manufacture of parts per manufacturing unit specifications in an accurate and timely manner utilizing semi-automatic and CNC 2 to 5 axis machines. Makes setups for and instructs and trains Machine Operator I, II, and III. Aids as Prototype Technician and converts customer requirements to blueprint, creates drawings using Solidworks and AutoCAD.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for the development of engineering manufacturing instructions using manufacturing engineering practices.
  • Perform monthly OSHA and GEMBA walks.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area and is responsible for the housekeeping of the general area around the machine/s including sweeping the work area and picking up loose items.
  • Follows standard safety procedures
  • Designing new equipment to improve productivity and quality.
  • Specify methods and equipment.
  • Must be able to assist engineering department in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
  • Creates an environment of continuous improvement with clearly defined objectives and plans that are revised and enhanced frequently.
  • Prepare engineering drawings using AutoCAD, or Solidworks
  • Prepare quotations for tooling, spinners, mandrels, and equipment to support the business unit requirements.
  • Responsible for supporting the Maintenance Department on technical issues.
  • Install, repair, and maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery, equipment
  • Has knowledge of the basic operation and function of all machines and equipment in facility
  • Make setups for and instruct & train Machine Operator I, II, or III for previous programs
  • Meets with engineers to discuss potential machine problems
  • Recognize, report and correct machine malfunctions, tooling difficulties, etc.
  • Set-up, check programs, operate and adjust semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled machine tools and/or CNC machining equipment to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations to meet close tolerance and finish requirements.
  • Check work at specified points.
  • Adjust machine to maintain finish and tolerance requirements.
  • Work from part drawings and use required precision measuring instruments to check and inspect work.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or bells, checking fluid levels replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
  • Recommend tooling arrangements, fixtures, operations sequence, etc.
  • Operate all necessary equipment in a proficient manner
  • Operate and adjust manual, semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled machine equipment to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree desirable
  • Minimum of three years of previous, relevant engineering or operations experience preferred
  • Minimum of three years' previous supervisory or leadership experience desirable
